Elizabeth Berkley Helps Charity

Former Saved By The Bell star Elizabeth Berkley has helped a cancer charity raise much needed funds.

The 34-year-old actress, who also made a name for herself by playing a Las Vegas entertainer in Showgirls, took part in the annual Gilda's Club Worldwide Holiday Fundraising Raffle and online auction which provides emotional and social supporter for people with cancer.

The event was organised by marketing services company ID Media and supported by many of its clients and media partners.

Gilda's Club is named after veteran funnyman Gene Wilder's wife Gilda Radner who died of cancer in 1989.

Through the raffle and eBay auction of items including iPods, shopping gift cards and Broadway tickets, $35,000 was raised which will be matched by a further $35,000 pledged by a Gilda's Club Worldwide trustee.

`Spider-Man,' `Radio' air Christmas Eve, Day; it's your choice on opening these television presents

Tired of holiday specials, but looking for something the family can watch together? If there's nothing in your DVD collection that the family can agree on, Fox has a couple of broadcast suggestions.

On Sunday, Christmas Eve, the network will air Spider-Man from 7:30 to 10 p.m. On Monday, Christmas Day, it will have Radio from 8 to 10 p.m.

Fox is calling those telecasts a two-night family-movie marathon. How much you agree will depend on (a) to what degree the network edits the movies, especially Spider-Man, and (b) what your family can endure.

If She Were A Child, I Wouldn't Post This Picture

Venus and Serena Williams are adults, and therefore they're under no legal obligation to do what their father, Richard Williams, says they'll do. That apparently comes as news to two tennis promoters who sued Richard Williams, saying he backed out of a contract to have the sisters take on male tennis players in a Battle of the Sexes event.

The promoters technically won their case, although they weren't awarded any damages. But what's most interesting here is that the promoters said a male vs. female tennis match could have made $45 million. That might be high, but I can honestly say that if I could have one dream tennis match for 2007, it would be one of the top female players against a past-his-prime man. Having Venus or Serena take on John McEnroe would be a ratings bonanza, and I'll personally sign on to promote it, as long as Richard Williams agrees.

City Lights Descends on Dawson Drama

City Lights Pictures Releasing has acquired the domestic theatrical distribution rights to producer and actor Rosario Dawson's drama Descent. The haunting story stars Dawson as a college student who tries to recover from a date rape. She eventually decides to take revenge on her attacker (Chad Faust) in a graphic and controversial manner. City Lights says they are prepared to release first-time director Talia Lugacy's film unrated or even NC-17.
